CUA Softball Places Two Freshmen on CAC All-Star Team
WASHINGTON (April 23, 2005) -- The Catholic University of America softball team placed two student athletes on its Capital Athletic Conference all-star team. Kathleen Ager made the team as one of two first basemen selected and Kara Walker was chosen as one of five at-large players.
Ager, a freshman from Olney, Md., and Good Counsel High School, started each of the team's 30 games and batted .411 for the season, the highest average on the team. She drove in 28 RBIs on 39 hits and three homeruns. She also established herself as a conference leader in several categories including: first in triples (4), third in individual batting (.411), on-base percentage (.477) and slugging percentage (.684), fifth in total bases (65) and sixth in homeruns (3).
Walker, a freshman from New Milford, N.J., and Academy of the Holy Angels High School, also started every game and posted the team's next highest batting average with .371. She drove in 22 RBIs on 33 hits and two homeruns. In the CAC, she ranked sixth in on-base percentage (.424) and seventh in both individual batting (.371) and slugging percentage (.539).
The team went 16-14 overall and 2-6 in conference play
for the season.
