Marrion and Kelly Given SAAC Awards
Catholic University holds Senior Student Athlete Banquet

WASHINGTON - Seniors Sean Kelly (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) and Rachel Marrion (Los Altos, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) were awarded two Student Athlete Advisory Committee role model awards last Thursday at the Catholic University Senior Student Athlete Banquet.  The award is given annually to one male and one female who shows exceptional leadership and serves as a role model for teammates and peers.  The honorees are nominated by the head coaches in the department.

Sean Kelly was a three-year member of a men's basketball squad that has one two Capital Athletic Conference championships and advanced to as many NCAA Tournaments.  Kelly is considered the ultimate team players by his coaches and has shown leadership among his teammates.  Off of the court, Kelly volunteers at Children's Hospital, is a member of the Dean's List and served as a SAAC representative all while maintaining a 3.4 GPA.  He graduated with a degree in politics.

Rachel Marrion was the heart and soul of the CUA softball squad after serving as team captain for the past three seasons.  The catcher turned third baseman transformed the team into one of the top squads in the CAC this past season as they advanced to the CAC Championship for the first time in program history.  Off of the field she is on the Dean's List and serves as the secretary for SAAC.  Marrion has also participated in numerous volunteer activities such as Campus Ministry, ATLAS and St. Ann's.  She was awarded the Martha Comiskey Award at this year's student leadership banquet for her involvement on campus.  The politics and education major has maintained a 3.8 GPA and has also been selected to play on the British National Fastpitch Softball squad this summer.

Marrion and Kelly were two of six award winners at Thursday's banquet.  All graduating student athletes were honored and the athletic department's major awards were also given out.
