Softball Falls 2-0 to Juniata to End Landmark Conference Run

4/2/09

BETHLEHEM, Pa.-- The CUA softball team fell today to Juniata College, 2-0 in an elimination game at the Landmark Conference tournament.

The Cardinals managed four hits, but failed to plate one of those base runners as Juniata capitalized on a CUA error to secure the victory.  Stacie Goddard (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin) was the lone Cardinal with a multi-hit game, marking a double in the second and a single in the seventh.

Goddard went the distance on the mound as well, pitching 6.0 innings and spreading four hits, allowing only one earned run.  She walked only two batters but it was a wild pitch in the third inning that allowed Juniata to move to third and score easily on a ground out to short.

The Cardinals will now wait to hear from the NCAA and ECAC to determine if CUA will make any postseason appearances.
