Three Players Honored Including Rizzi As Rookie Of The Year


WASHINGTON-- The Landmark Conference announced the 2009 Softball All-Conference team and several individual awards today with CUA taking one individual award along with three players being named to the All-Conference squad.

Grabbing her fourth straight all-conference nod was Sr. 2B Kelly Lukacs (Chesterfield, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional), her .385 career batting average was helped in 2009 as the four year player hit 13 doubles and four homeruns.  She finished the 2009 season perfect on stolen bases and committed only three errors on the season. 

Also receiving first team honors was Stacie Goddard (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin) for her play as an offensive power and defensive utility.  In 2009 she was a starting pitcher, relief pitcher, DP and numerous other defensive postions throughout the year.  In 33 games this season, Goddard hit .333 with 18 RBIs, committed only three errrors in the field, and held a 3.73 ERA in 97.2 IP.

Receiving Rookie of the Year as well as Second Team honors was Megan Rizzi (Mont Vernon, N.H./Souhegan High School).  Rizzi stepped on the field as a freshman and took over the infield.  She hit .430 for the year going 46-107 with 14 doubles, 2 triples and five round trippers.  Her 79 total bases led the team along with her batting average, stolen bases, and RBIs.
