Susquehanna Takes Two from CUA Softball
(April 1, 2010)
WASHINGTON-A potent Susquehanna offense proved to be too much for the Catholic University softball team Thursday afternoon, as the Cardinals dropped both conference games 4-0 and 9-0 on their home field in Washington, D.C.
In game one, the visiting Crusaders opened up the scoring in the top of the third inning and never looked back. Catholic managed just three hits against their Landmark foe, and were unable to capitalize against a tough Susquehanna defense. Lynn Brown had a strong performance at first place, tallying 13 of the team’s 21 put-outs. Stephanie Clemente struck out two batters in the circle.
Game two was much of the same for the Cards, as the squad struggled to gain any offensive momentum. CUA once again tallied three hits in the nightcap, coming from Brown, Taylor Stockinger, and Mel Galella. Brown also chipped in nine put-outs, while Stacie Goddard managed four strikeouts in the loss.
CUA will look to bounce back on April 7th, as they host Stevenson University for a double-header beginning at 3:30 p.m.
