Cardinals Falter in Moravian Double-Header
BETHLEHEM, Pa.- The visiting Catholic University softball team managed just five hits against Landmark Conference foe Moravian College Saturday afternoon, as the Cards were swept in two games 8-1, 10-2.
CUA now stands at 23-11 overall, 4-6 in conference play.
The Cardinals notched the first run of game one, as Alyssa Corvino scored on a throwing error by Moravian’s catcher.
That would be CUA’s only run of the night, however, as a combination of solid pitching and stifling defensive pressure helped the Greyhounds secure an 8-1 victory.
It was more of the same in game two, as Catholic’s bats remained relatively silent throughout the afternoon. The Cards allowed ten hits and gave up ten runs in the six inning game.
CUA scored the only two runs of the afternoon in the top of the third inning. Tracy Scanlon first hit a double to right center that brought home Rachel Baker, and then scored on a Greyhound throwing error.
The Cardinals will look to bounce back this weekend, as they head to Salisbury University for a double-header beginning at 3:30 p.m.
