Softball Earns Bid to ECAC Tournament
WASHINGTON- The Catholic University softball team has an first round ECAC date with regional foe Alvernia Wednesay afternoon after the squad posted its best overall record in four years.
The fifth-seeded Cardinals will travel to fourth-seeded Crusaders for a 4 p.m., single game. The winner of this game will play either Bethany or Pitt.-Bradford in the double-elimination portion of the ECAC championships. The contest will be held at the home of the highest remaining seed, and will kick off Saturday at 10 a.m.
CUA has posted its most successful record in recent years, finishing the regular season with a 25-13 record. The Cards will look to pitchers Stephanie Clemente and Stacie Goddard as a dynamic duo in the circle, and will rely on the hitting prowess of Megan Rizzi, who leads the team in hits (47), RBIs (42), and homeruns (3).
