Don Baker is in his seventh year as a volunteer assistant for
the Cardinals softball program where he works primarily with the
outfield and defense. Baker brings a high energy level
and stresses fundamentals and work ethic.
Baker has over 20 years of coaching experience having coached at
all levels of youth softball, baseball and basketball. He has
also been heavily involved with softball travel teams and for three
years was as an assistant varsity softball coach at St. Vincent
Pallotti High School. In 2007, Baker was awarded outstanding CYO
coach of the year for the Archdiocese of Washington.
A graduate of DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Md.,
where he played baseball, Baker later attended Frostburg State
University.
Baker is a Sr. Advisory IT/Specialist for IBM in Gaithersburg,
Md., where he has worked for nearly 30 years. He and his wife Karen
reside in Riverdale, Md., and have three daughters, one son and two
grandchildren. Their daughter Rachel is a 2010 graduate of CUA who
was a member of the Cardinals softball program.
