Cardinals split home meet with Howard
WASHINGTON – The Cardinals returned to action for the first time in two weeks on Friday and CUA came away with a split vs. Howard inside the DuFour Center. The women earned a 141.5-107.5 victory, while the men were upended 145-116.
In men's action, the 200 yard medley relay team of Caleb Capozella, Luke Granelli, Dominic Grillo and Stephen Gill took first in a time of 1:43.33
Capozella added a first place finish in the 100 backstroke (55.25), while Grillo (22.73) and Gill (23.32) went one-two in the 50 free.
In women's action, Gabby Giambagno won the 1000 free in a time of 11:26.30, and Joanna Ladas took first in the 200 free (2:00.43) and 500 free (5:25.38). Giambagno placed second in the 500 free (5:41.18).
Katherine Kelly touched first in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.41) with Laura Keehn in second (1:18.06), and Kelly added a second first place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:46.15).
Rachel Berry won the 200 butterfly (2:17.12) and 100 butterfly (1:01.16), while Julia Wisler won the 50 free (26.08) and 100 free (57.34).
Nicole DiGiacinto touched first in the 200 backstroke (2:24.59).
The Cardinals will close out their first semester schedule on Saturday afternoon when they travel across town to take on Georgetown. Action begins at 1 p.m.
