CUA competes against Marymount and Washington & Lee
ARLINGTON, Va. – CUA traveled to Marymount on Saturday to
compete against the Saints and Washington & Lee. The men
went 1-1 in the two meets, while the women finished up 0-2.
Abby Trozenski, Luke Granelli, Evan Hundley, Jakub Deptula, and the
men’s 200 freestyle relay team were all winners for the
Cardinals
The women fell to Marymount by a score of 133-128, and the
Cardinals were also upended by Washington & Lee, 158-100.
Abby Trozenski took first in the 400 IM, with a time of 5:20.46,
and Katherine Kelly took second in the same event, finishing in
5:23.32.
Gabrielle Giambagno placed second in the 1000 freestyle, finishing
in a time of 11:22.86, while Chelsea Hewitt (1:16.42) and Ali
Taylor (1:16.56) finished two-three in the 100
breaststroke.
Taylor (2:49.19) and Laura Keehn (2:52.68) placed two-three in the
200 breastroke.
Chelsea Doyle, Ashley Wilson, Kristen Gunn and Nicole DiGiacinto
teamed up to place second in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of
1:48.67, with Andrea Durbin, Aubree Guidon, Gabrielle Giambagno and
Joanna Ladas taking third in 1:50.87.
The men defeated Marymount handily, by a count of 186-58, but
Washington & Lee got the best of the Cardinals, earning a
134-112 win.
In the individual events, Luke Granelli won the 200 breaststroke
with a time of 2:22.67 and Evan Hundley took first in the 500 free,
touching in 5:14.82.
Jakub Deptula (59.99) raced his way to a first place finish in the
100 butterfly, and Andrew Ceacatura finished second in 1:05.12.
Justin Kenyon placed second in the 1000 free, posting a time of
10:25.55, while Zack Hutton did the same in the 200 free, with a
time of 1:59.72.
Chris Ryan (25.83) and Ceacatura (26.89) finished two-three in the
50 free, and Bernard Abbot placed second in the 200 backstroke
(2:14.84).
Stephen Gill, Calzeb Capozella, Chris LeDonne and Dominic Grillo
took the top spot in the 200 freestyle relay (1:31.46), while in
the 200 yard medley relay, Capozella, Granelli, Grillo and Brendan
Reilly raced to a second-place finish in 1:41.74.
CUA remains on the road next weekend when the Cardinals head to
Randolph-Macon on January 28. Action gets underway beginning at 1
p.m.
