Women's swimming ties for second in preseason conference poll
WASHINGTON – CUA has tied for second in the 2011-12
Landmark Conference women’s swimming preseason poll,
announced on Monday. The Cardinals received 68 points, which
was the same amount as Scranton, in the poll. Susquehanna
sits atop the preseason poll with 73 points.
Last season CUA placed third at the conference championships, led
by current sophomore Joanna Ladas, who was named the 2011 Female
Swimmer and Rookie of the Year. In addition, Paul Waas and
his staff were named the Women’s Swimming Coaching Staff of
the Year for their efforts.
Ladas won three titles at the championship meet, while Lisa Brooks
captured a pair and Shannon Silsby won the 100 backstroke.
Following Susquehanna, CUA and Scranton in the poll is Merchant
Marine Academy with 45 points. Next in line are Drew (35),
Juniata (29), league newcomer Marywood (27), and Goucher (19).
CUA will return to the pool on Friday evening when the Cardinals
host St. Mary’s inside the DuFour Center. Start time is
set for 5 p.m.
