CUA concludes opening weekend of action vs. American and GW
WASHINGTON – CUA wrapped up its opening weekend of the 2012-13 season on Saturday, taking on Division I foes American and George Washington. The Cardinals had a number of strong performances throughout.
In men's action, Caleb Capozella finished fourth in the 200 free with a time of 1:49.76, and sixth in the 100 backstroke (55.83). Matt Wagner was ninth in the 200 free, finishing in 1:54.34.
Justin Kenyon was fifth in the 1650 freestyle, touching in 18:05.26.
Dominic Grillo placed ninth in the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.77, while Stephen Mooers was 11th (59.50) and Jakub Deptula 12th (59.92).
Luke Granelli was seventh in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.25, and Luke McGuire was 10th (1:07.30)
On the women's side, Julia Wisler was third in the 100 backstroke, finishing in 1:05.46, and fourth in the 100 butterfly, finishing in 1:03.17. Wisler added a fifth place showing in the 100 free (57.02).
Michelle Navaro was fourth in the 100 and 200 yard backstroke and Rachel Berry was fifth in the 100 butterfly (1:03.96).
In the 400 IM, Joanna Ladas came in fifth with a time of 5:01.28, while Melanie Rebechi was sixth, checking in at 5:15.35.
Ladas also placed eighth in the 200 free with a time of 2:03.71, while Andrea Durbin was 12th (2:17.61).
CUA returns to the pool on October 26 when the Cardinals head to St. Mary's. Start time is set for 5 p.m.
