Capozella named Swimmer of the Week for the sixth time in his career
WASHINGTON – Junior Caleb Capozella has been named the Landmark Conference Male Swimmer of the Week, it was announced on Monday. Capozella won the 200 free on Saturday against Division I foes Georgetown and Howard, and he also finished second in the 100 backstroke.
Capozella claimed the top spot in the 200 free with a time of 1:46.66. He then placed second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 53.44.
The Green Bay native closed his day out by teaming up with Dominic Grillo, Stephen Gill and Matt Wagner to take second place in the 200 freestyle relay. The Cardinals finished the race in 1:30.99.
This marks the sixth time that Capozella has been named conference Swimmer of the Week in his career.
Capozella and the Cardinals are now off for final exams and the holiday break before returning to the pool on Saturday, January 12 when they travel to Pennsylvania to face conference foe Scranton. Start time is set for 1 p.m.
