Landmark Conference announces men's swimming preseason poll

WASHINGTON – The Landmark Conference announced its 2012-13 preseason men's swimming poll on Wednesday and CUA was selected fourth with 26 points.  The Cardinals placed fourth at last season's championships and Caleb Capozella earned All-Conference accolades for his performance.

Capozella returns for his junior season and looks to add another all-conference accolade to his resume after earning back-to-back honors the last two years.

Other returning Cardinals to keep an eye on include Luke Granelli, Stephen Gill, Justin Kenyon, Evan Hundley, and Jakub Deptula.

Head Coach Paul Waas has also brought in a freshmen class that expects to contribute right from the start.

Five-time defending conference champion Merchant Marine Academy claimed the top spot in the poll, with 60 points, followed by Susquehanna with 41 points, Scranton with 38 and CUA with 26.

Rounding things out are Marywood (21), Goucher (19) and Drew (12).

CUA opens its season on Friday evening when the Cardinals face Division I foes American and George Washington beginning at 5 p.m.  The event will take place on American's campus.

On Saturday, the same three teams will get together with action beginning at noon and continuing at 5 p.m.
