Cardinals return to the pool against conference foe Scranton
SCRANTON, Pa. – After more than a month away from competition, CUA returned to the pool on Saturday with a conference meet at Scranton. Julia Wisler captured two individual events and placed second in two relays, while Chris LeDonne, Dominic Grillo, and Luke McGuire won individual events for the men.
Scranton was able to come away with wins on both sides of the meet, winning the men's competition 155-102, and the women's 159-100.
In the women's events, Michelle Navarro won the 200 free in 2:06.03, while Laurie Wei came in first in the 200 butterfly (2:22.54) and the 200 IM (2:27.41).
Rachel Berry took first in the 100 butterfly in 1:04.54, and she was second in the 200 butterfly, finishing in 2:26.97.
Wisler touched first in the 50 free (25.68) and the 100 free (56.57).
Nicole Castellano (2:30.25) and Abby Trozenski (2:33.72) placed second and third, respectively, in the 200 IM.
Gabby Giambagno placed second in the 1000 free, touching in 11:42.20, and Navarro was second in the 200 backstroke (2:19.55).
Chelsea Doyle, Laura Keehn, Berry and Wisler finished second in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:59.50, while Navarro, Berry, Nicole DiGiacinto and Wisler placed second in the 400 freestyle relay (3:50.50).
On the men's side, LeDonne took first in the 200 butterfly, finishing in 2:13.33, and Grillo won the 50 free (22.15).
In the 200 IM, McGuire (2:18.91), Luke Granelli (2:23.56) and Paul McGee took the top three spots.
Justin Kenyon (10:52.25) and Josh Cutter (10:58.50) came in second and third place, respectively, in the 1000 free, while Matt Wagner finished second in the 200 free (1:53.26) and the 100 free (49.59).
In the relay events, Wagner, Stephen Gill, Stephen Mooers and Grillo took first in the 400 freestyle relay, posting a time of 3:27.23.
Mooers, Granelli, Grillo and Matt Wagner finished second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:43.76.
CUA returns to the pool on January 19 when the Cardinals travel to Washington and Lee to face the Generals as well as Marymount. Start time is set for 1 p.m.
