Cardinals open 2012-13 season vs. Eagles, Colonials

WASHINGTON – The CUA swim teams opened their 2012-13 season on Friday evening, taking on Division I foes American and George Washington.  The trio of teams completed only a handful of events and will finish things off on Saturday.

In women’s action, Julia Wisler came in fourth place in the 50 free with a time of 26.09 seconds to earn three points for the Cardinals, while freshman Michelle Navarro placed seventh in 26.76.

Joanna Ladas finished fourth in the 500 free, finishing in 5:27.26, with Rachel Berry coming in sixth (5:47.54).

Ladas added a seventh place finish in the 200 IM, posting a time of 2:19.54.

On the men’s side, Dominic Grillo came in third place in the 50 free with a time of 22.16 seconds, while Justin Kenyon placed 11th in the 500 free, posting a time of 5:16.94.

The same three teams will get together again on Saturday to close out their opening weekend.  Action gets underway beginning at noon and then concludes at 5.
