Berry named Landmark Conference Senior Scholar Athlete

WASHINGTON – Rachel Berry has been named the Landmark Conference Women’s Swimming Senior Scholar Athlete, it was announced on Tuesday. A civil engineering major, Berry was a First Team All-Conference selection this season, after winning the 100 butterfly championship.

Berry maintains a GPA above 3.2 and is a member of the Dean’s List, Landmark Conference All-Academic Team and Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll. She also studied abroad in Hong Kong during a semester while at CUA.

In addition to her championship in the 100 butterfly, Berry also placed 2nd in the 200 fly at the league championship meet. She set a school record in the 100 as well, finishing in a time of 59.40 seconds in the prelims at the league championship.

Last season, Berry won five individual events throughout the season, and helped the 400 yard medley relay team set a school record with a 1st place finish at the conference championship.

Over the last four years, Berry has helped the Cardinals place in the top four of the Landmark Conference championship every year. Prior to earning All-Conference honors this season, Berry was a top-six finisher on five occasions.

Honorees for the Landmark Senior Scholar Athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 and are selected based on their accomplishments in athletics and academics.
