Berry picks up individual title on day two of championship
SCRANTON, Pa. – CUA wrapped up the second day of action at the Landmark Conference championship on Saturday. Rachel Berry won the 100 butterfly for the women, while Luke McGuire posted the top finish for the CUA men, placing 4th in the 400 IM. The women are 3rd overall after two days and the men sit in 5th place.
In women's action, Berry posted a time of 59.87 to capture the 100 butterfly championship, with Julia Wisler coming in second with a time of 1:00.74.
Michelle Navarro, Nicole DiGiacinto, Chelsea Doyle and Wisler came in 2nd place in the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 8:11.35, and in the 200-yard medley relay, DiGiacinto, Laura Keehn, Berry and Chelsea Doyle finished 4th with a time of 1:53.23
Navarro finished 4th in the 200 freestyle, touching in 2:01.55, while Rose Buckley came in 12th, finishing in 2:08.13
In the 400 IM, Melanie Rebechi came in 8th place, posting a time of 5:00.87, while DiGiacinto placed 7th in the 100 backstroke (1:02.81), and Doyle (1:03.47) and Navarro (1:04.12) finished 9th and 10th, respectively.
On the men's side, Patrick McMullen was 9th in the 200 free, finishing in 1:47.99, while Luke Granelli placed 7th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:02.15.
In the 400 IM, McGuire finished 12th, with a time of 4:33.21.
On Sunday, action on the final day of the championship gets underway beginning at 11 a.m.
