Kenyon, Wisler win individual events in meet vs. Generals & Saints
LEXINGTON, Va. – CUA continued its season on Saturday, taking on Washington and Lee and Marymount. The men defeated Marymount 187-69, but fell to Washington and Lee 168-86, while the women fell to Marymount 132-129, and were upended by Washington and Lee 154-101. On the men's side, Justin Kenyon won the 500 freestyle, while Julia Wisler took first in the 100 free.
In the men's events, Kenyon won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:13.59, followed by Patrick McMullen (5:25.82) and Zack Hutton (5:27.70).
In the 200 free, Hutton finished in fourth place with a time of 1:51.00, while Matt Wagner was fifth (1:52.04). Wagner also placed third in the 100 free with a time of 49.87.
Luke Granelli took third in the 100 breaststroke, finishing in 1:05.22, and Dominic Grillo was second in the 50 free with a time of 22.05. Luke McGuire took second in the 200 IM (2:14.93).
In the 100 butterfly, Chris LeDonne was second with a time of 59.49, followed by Jakub Deptula (1:00.35), Andrew Ceacatura (1:00.60) and Alex Holzberger (1:00.75) in third through fifth, respectively.
Grillo, Stephen Gill, Stephen Mooers and Wagner finished second in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:24.35.
In the women's events, Michelle Navarro placed third in the 200 free, touching in a time of 2:04.13, while Laurie Wei (2:21.41) and Rachel Berry (2:22.68) came in second and third, respectively, in the 200 butterfly.
Navarro also finished third in the 200 backstroke (2:17.74) and 50 free (5:38.25), while Chelsea Doyle was fourth in the 200 backstroke (2:21.88).
Berry took second in the 100 butterfly (1:03.53), followed by Wei in third (1:05.14).
In the 200 IM, Wei (2:25.77), Nicole Castellano (2:28.60) and Melanie Rebechi (2:29.84) finished second, third and fourth, respectively.
Wisler won the 100 free in 56.78, and then raced her way to a third place showing in the 50 free, posting a time of 25.72 seconds
In the relay events, CUA took first in the 400-yard freestyle, with Berry, Nicole DiGiacinto, Navarro and Wisler posting a time of 3:49.64.
DiGiacinto, Laura Keehn, Berry and Wisler then teamed up to finish third in the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:58.20.
The CUA women return to action on Friday, January 25 when the Cardinals host Mount St. Mary's at 6 p.m. The entire Cardinal team will then host Randolph-Macon on January 26 beginning at 1.
