CUA sweeps conference foe Marywood on the road

SCRANTON, Pa. – CUA swept conference foe Marywood on Sunday afternoon, with the women earning a 117-84 win and the men coming away with a 115-88 victory.  Nicole DiGiacinto and Michelle Navarro won two events to lead the CUA women, while Caleb Capozella and Matt Wagner totaled two wins apiece for the men.

On the women's side, DiGiacinto won the 200 freestyle in a time of 2:07.42 and the 100 freestyle in 58.32, while Joanna Ladas took first in the 500 free (5:27.67).

Chelsea Doyle claimed first in the 50 free, touching in 26.97, while Navarro took first in the 200 IM (2:23.23) and the 200 backstroke (2:17.87).

Laurie Wei (2:19.80) and Rachel Berry (2:21.58) finished one-two in the 200 butterfly, and Rose Buckley placed second in the 100 free (59.75).

The 400 yard medley relay team of Navarro, Laura Keehn, Melanie Rebechi and Buckley came in first with a time of 4:24.02.

In men's action, Capozella took first in the 200 free, with a time of 1:47.89, and in the 200 backstroke, finishing in 2:06.07.

Dominic Grillo won the 50 free, touching in 22.59, and Wagner took first in the 200 IM (2:06.58), and the 100 free (49.20).

Luke Granelli touched first in the 200 breaststroke, finishing in 2:24.33, putting him ahead of second place finisher Luke McGuire (2:27.96).

The 400 yard medley team of Capozella, Granelli, Grillo and Stephen Mooers won its event, finishing in a time of 3:46.84.

CUA is back in action on Saturday, November 17 when the Cardinals travel to New Jersey to take on conference foe Drew.  Start time is set for 1 p.m.
