Capozella and Wisler sweep weekly Landmark Conference awards
WASHINGTON – CUA swept the Landmark Conference Swimmer of
the Week Awards on Monday, with Caleb Capozella capturing the
men’s award and Julia Wisler receiving the women’s
award. The pair of Cardinals both had strong opening weekends
vs. Division I foes American and George Washington.
Capozella earned an impressive fourth place finish in the 200 free
on Saturday, touching in a time of 1:49.76. The junior then
added a sixth place finish in the 100 backstroke, posting a time of
55.83 seconds.
Wisler picked up right where she left off last year, when she made
an immediate impact as a freshman. The Pennsylvania native
posted four top-10 finishes against the Eagles and Colonials,
topping out with a third place finish in the 100 backstroke at
1:05.46.
The sophomore then finished fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:03.17)
and the 50 free (26.09) to go
along with a fifth place showing in the 100 free (57.02).
CUA returns to the pool on Friday, October 26 when the Cardinals
travel to face St. Mary’s. Start time is set for 5
p.m. The next day, CUA heads to Goucher for its conference
opener at 1.
