WASHINGTON - Senior Joanna Ladas was named the Landmark Conference Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season after leading the Cardinals to a 178.5-83.5 win over Randolph-Macon College on Saturday.
Ladas posted three individual wins in addition to a first-place finish with her relay team in the 200 freestyle. In the 1000 freestyle, Ladas blew away the field, beating the next best finisher by over 30 seconds with a time of 11:15.09, while posting the third-fastest time in the Landmark. She currently also holds the fastest time in the 1000 freestyle, with a 11:05.02 time that she swam on 1/18/14. She also won the 200 freestyle (1:59.12) and the 500 freestyle (5:24.35). The Silver Spring, Md. native helped CUA to 38 points in the team's final warm-up to the Landmark Championships.
This is the second Landmark honor for Ladas this season, as she was the first swimmer to earn the award this season on 10/14/13.
The Cardinals are off until the Landmark Championships which are held on Feb. 7-9 at Marywood University.
