Towson, Md. - Caleb Capozella '14 and Guido Saccaggi '17 of The Catholic University of America men's swimming and diving team have been honored for their successes with selections to the Landmark Conference All-Decade Team.
During his career, Capozella was a 10-time All-Landmark selection, three times on the First Team. He captured conference titles in the 200-individual medley, 100- backstroke and 200-backstroke in 2011. With his accomplishments in 2011, he was selected both Swimmer of the Year and Rookie of the Year. Capozella is the only male swimmer in Landmark history to be selected as both in the same season. A three-time Academic Honor Roll selection, Capozella was named the Senior Scholar Athlete in 2014.
Saccaggi is currently a 12-time All-Conference selection for the Cardinals, eight of which are First Team appearances. He is a three-time conference champion in the 1650-freestyle, where he currently holds the conference championship record with a time of 16:16.92, set in 2014. He also holds the record in the 400-individual medley (4:04.56), also set in 2014 when he was selected Landmark Rookie of the Year. Saccaggi has made the Academic Honor Roll list each of his eligible semesters along with earning three Scholar All-American selections.
The 2016-17 season marks the 10th year anniversary for the Landmark Conference. To help celebrate, the Landmark featured individuals that have stood out over the past 10 years. The teams were selected by the league's head coaches.
