Towson, Md. - The Catholic University of America women's swimming and diving team was honored with four selections on the Landmark Conference All-Decade Team, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.
Lisa Brooks '11, Joanna Ladas '14, Julia Wisler '15 and Basira Knight '18 were all recognized as the top swimmers in the 10-year history of the Landmark in a vote from the conference's head coaches.
Brooks was a four-time Landmark champion in both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke events. Her 2009 championship time of 2:23.96 in the 200-breaststroke still stands as a conference championship record. A nine-time All-Conference honoree, Brooks was selected as an Academic All-American in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and was a member of the Landmark Academic Honor Roll each of her eligible semesters.
Knight currently competes for the Catholic women's swimming and diving team. She joins Jay Howard of the Catholic men's basketball team as the only two juniors to be selected to any Landmark All-Decade team thus far.
Knight has made her presence known as a seven-time conference First Team selection. She is the reigning two-time 100-breaststroke champion, winning the event in 2015 and 2016. Her 2015 title-winning time of 1:04.95 set the championship meet record, which still holds today. Knight was also a member of the 200-medley relay and 400-free relay teams which have earned back-to-back titles the last two season.
Ladas was an eight-time All-Conference First Team selection for the Cardinals. She won the 500 freestyle in 2011, 2012 and 2014. Additionally, Ladas was a two-time champion in the 200 freestyle (2011, 2012) and 1650 freestyle (2011, 2014). She was a member of the 800-free relay team that won in 2014. Ladas was named the Landmark Swimmer of the Year and Rookie of the Year in 2011, the only female swimmer to win both awards in the same year. She capped off her career earning Swimmer of the Years honors again in 2014.
Wisler left Catholic University as an 18-time All-Conference selection, including eight First Team honors. She was a three-time champion in the 100 freestyle (2012, 2013 & 2014) and a two-time champion in the 50-freestyle (2013 & 2014). Wisler was a member of the title-winning 800-free relay team in 2014 and the 200 and 400-free relay teams that won in 2015. She was selected the Landmark's Swimmer of the Year in 2014 and earned the conference's Senior Scholar Athlete award for women's swimming.
The 2016-17 season marks the 10th year anniversary for the Landmark Conference. To help celebrate, the Landmark featured individuals that have stood out over the past 10 years. The teams were selected by the league's head coaches.
