Cards Compete in Baltimore


The Catholic men's and women's swim team opened the 2006-07 season Saturday in Baltimore against host Loyola, George Washington and Navy.  The Cardinals finished fourth in the meet, swimming against competition from the Atlantic 10, MAAC and Patriot League.

Freshmen Heather Alvord (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) set a school record in the 200 backstroke with a 4th place time of 2:14.59.  Other top eight swims included senior Liz McGinn (Kingsport, TN/Dobyns-Bennett) in the 100 backstroke, freshmen Alyssa Dorval (Conway, MA/Frontier Regional) in the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM, junior Kelly Minor (Ft. Myers, FL/Bishop Veret) in the 200 IM and freshmen Mike Hoak (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis) in the 100 butterfly.

The Cardinals return to action October 27th and 28th when they host the Friday night session of the Fall Invite with American University and George Washington.
