Cardinals Fall to Eagles
FREDRICKSBURG, Va. - The Catholic University men's and women's swim teams dropped a pair of dual meets against defending CAC Champions Mary Washington Saturday afternoon. The UWM men won by a score of 121-76 while the Eagle women topped the Cardinals 132-61.
Freshmen Kevin Cravedi (Bethesda, MD/Good Counsel) was the lone individual winner for the Cards in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:14.20. The 400 relay team of Dan Finnegan (Philadelphia, PA/Archibishop Ryan), Brendan Reich (Garden City, NY/Chaminade), Mike Hoak (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis) and Chris Totten (Warren, Ohio/JFK Catholic) finished first in a time of 3:53.34. Rian Foust (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) was second in the 200 back swimming a 2:07.61 and Theo Torrez (Mesa, Ariz./St. Mary's Catholic) was second in the 1000 free (10:46.86).
For the women, Heather Alvord (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) placed second in the 200 free swimming a 2:02.58 and the 500 free with a 5:23.03. Liz McGinn (Kingsport, Tenn./Dobyns-Bennett) was also second in the 200 back with a 2:18.21.
The Cardinals return to action Saturday at home against Marymount. Start time is 2:00 p.m.
