Swimming Sweeps Gallaudet and Hood
WASHINGTON- The Catholic University men's and women's swim teams swept both Gallaudet University and Hood College Saturday at the DuFour Center Natatorium. A senior day crowd witnessed the women raise their Capital Athletic Conference record to 4-3 with victories over Galluadet, 84-11, and Hood, 68-27. The men moved to 6-1 in the CAC by defeating Gallaudet, 82-13, and Hood, 64-31.
The women were led by senior Liz McGinn (Kingsport, Tenn./Dobyns-Bennett), who won both the 50 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke and led off the victorious 400 Medley Relay. Other winners included senior Erin Neill (Centerville,VA /Centerville) in the 100 Breaststroke, Krystal Dole (Corbin, KY/Model) in the 200 Freestyle, Solongo Erdenekhuyag (Rockville, Md./Rockville) in the 100 Butterfly, Lauren Wood (Doylestown/Central Bucks East) in the 100 Freestyle and Caitlin Schettino (Babylon/St. Anthony's) in the 500 Freestyle.
The men were led by senior Chris Totten (Warren, Ohio/JFK Catholic), who captured the 200 IM and anchored the victorious 400 Freestyle Relay. Additional wins were recorded by Sean Connelly (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) in the 1000 Freestyle, Kevin Cravedi (Bethesda, MD/Good Counsel) in 100 Butterfly, Rian Foust (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) in the 100 Freestyle and Mike Hoak (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis) in the 100 Breaststroke.
The Cardinals will close out their season February 9-11 at the Capital Athletic Conference Championships being held at St. Mary's College.
