Women Split and Men Sweep as CUA Swimming Continues To Register Strong Performances

ST. MARY'S CITY-- Reik Foust (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) led the Cardinals with three first-place finishes, to lead the men's side to two dual meet wins, while Lisa Brooks (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) won the 100 yard breaststroke to help the women's team to a 1-1 split to St. Mary's and Hood College.
On the men's side Foust won the 100 yard freestyle and the 50 yard freestyle while anchoring the 200 yard freestyle relay and grabed first place in all three events. Foust wasn't the only men's three race winner, as Kevin Cravedi (Bethesda, Md./Good Counsel) grabbed three titles as well. Cravedi was first in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:54.78, the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:16.90, and was the second leg in the 200 yard freestyle relay. The men's team defeated Hood 158-36, and St. Mary's 115-90.
For the women, Brooks finished first in the 100 yard breaststroke in a time of 1:10.82, nearly two seconds faster than the second place time, while Mary Connelly (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) went a season best in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:05.00. Connelly's time was good enough for second place trailing only St. Mary's senior Brie McDowell. The women's team defeated Hood 149-41 but lost to St. Mary's 154-51.
Both teams will welcome Susquehanna to the DuFour Center on Saturday, November 22nd at 1 p.m.
