CUA Swim Submits to Scranton

WASHINGTON- The Catholic University swim team posted a number of first place finishes Saturday afternoon, but fell to visiting Scranton University to open their 2010 campaign.
The Cardinals earned a total of four top finishes on the women's side. The relay team of Kristen Gunn, Lisa Brooks, Rachel Berry, and Helene Nicoletti finished the 200 Yard Medly with an impressive time of1:57.00. Brooks also finished atop the100 Yard Butterfly (1:05.17) and 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:09.55), while Nicoletti earned second place in the 50 Yard Freestyle (00:27.23). Gunn finished second in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:06.87.
Melanie Rebechi and Rose Buckley had strong showings for the Cardinals, finishing first in the 400 Yard IM (5:10.14) and second in the 100 Yard Freestyle (58.67), respectively. Kristen Johnson also earned second in the 500 Yard Freestyle.
On the men's side, the relay team of Brendan Place, Paul McGee, Brendan Reilly, and Kevin Cravedi earned a first place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:34.47, and second in the 500 Yard Freestyle. Chris Gervais finished second in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 00:59.79.
McGee and Reilly also earned second place finishes in the 100 Yard Backstroke and 100 Yard Freestyle, respectively. Luke Miller rounded out CUA's highest finishes by earning second in the 100 Yard Breaststroke.
