Swimming Opens Season with Solid Performances

Swimming both at home and on the road the CUA swimmers started the 2009-2010 season with solid performances against tough Division I opponents.

The highlight of the weekend was Lisa Brooks topping both American University and George Washington University swimmers to take home first place in the women's 100 yard breaststroke.  Brooks' time of 1:07.81 is only two seconds off of her career and CUA record best of 1:05.15 which was set in the spring of this year. Brooks also finished second in the 200 yard breaststroke trailing American's Dory Isaacs.

Other top finishers at this highly competitive meet were Rose Buckley, Kevin Cravedi, Stephen Johnson, Brendan Reilly, Melanie Rebechi, Kristen Johnson, and Kristen Gunn.  The meet started on Friday at the DuFour Center at CUA and then continued on Saturday on the campus of American University.

CUA will return to the pool on Friday, Oct. 30 at 4 p.m. as the Cardinals welcome St. Mary's College of Maryland to the DuFour Center.
