Ladas breaks conference record, Brooks earns first place finish
WASHINGTON – Led by freshman Joanna Ladas’
record-breaking performance, the CUA swimming teams wrapped up
their first weekend of action on Saturday vs. American and George
Washington. Ladas broke the Landmark Conference record in the
1650 free by 25 seconds with a time of 18:14.65.
On the men’s side, Patrick Flannery was fourth in the 100
butterfly with a time of 55.02, and Justin Kenyon finished third in
the 1650 free after crossing in 17:36.92.
In the women’s events, Lisa Brooks won the 100 breaststroke
with a time of 1:09.62 and she also placed third in the 200
breaststroke, as she finished in a time of 2:33.55. Katherine
Kelly placed fifth in the 200 breaststroke and Ladas crossed in
third in the 200 free with a time of 1:59.54.
CUA will return to the water on Friday, October 29 when the
Cardinals travel to take on St. Mary’s. Action gets
underway beginning at 5:00.
