Landmark Conference names Ladas swimmer of the week
WASHINGTON – After winning four events and setting her second
school record in as many weeks this past weekend, freshman Joanna
Ladas was named the Landmark Conference Women’s Swimmer of
the Week on Monday. Ladas took first in the 500, the 1000
free, the 200 free and she anchored the 200 freestyle relay.
Ladas claimed first place in the 500 with a new CUA record time of
5:15.96. She then went on to post first place finishes in the
1000 free (11:28.71) and the 200 free (1:58.79).
With CUA needing a win in its final event vs. Suquehanna in order
to defeat the Crusaders, Ladas anchored the 200 freestyle relay and
helped lift the Cardinals to victory.
The relay team’s time of 1:46.29 helped CUA down its
counterparts 132-130. Ladas came from behind to win her leg
of the relay as she continues her impressive freshman season.
Ladas has now earned conference and national swimmer of the week
honors after collegeswimming.com bestowed the accolade upon her two
weeks ago.
The Cardinals will return to the pool on Saturday when they travel
to take on Salisbury. Action gets underway beginning at
1:00.
