Cardinals take on Yellow Jackets in final tuneup before champs.

WASHINGTON – The CUA women's swimming team took on Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon inside the DuFour Center and Joanna Ladas, Shannon Silsby and Gabby Giambagno all had first place finishes for the Cardinals.  CUA ultimately fell to the Yellow Jackets by a score of 140-122.

Joanna Ladas won the 200 free in a time of 2:00.31 and Shannon Silsby (1:03.27) and Kristen Gunn (1:05.53) went one-two in the 100 backstroke.

Silsby later added a second place finish in the 50 free with a time of 26.87 seconds, while Ashley Wilson (27.05) and Rose Buckley (27.49) came in third and fourth, respectively in that race.

Gabby Giambagno took first in the 1000 free, as she finished in 11:31.53 to earn nine points and Lisa Brooks finished second in the 100 breaststroke, completing the race in 1:11.68

The 400 yard medley relay team of Shannon Silsby, Lisa Brooks, Rachel Berry and Joanna Ladas came in second with a time of 4:15.01.

The next time CUA hits the pool, the entire Cardinals team will take part in the 2011 Landmark Conference championships, which are slated for February 11-13 on the campus of Merchant Marine Academy.
