Women tabbed third in conference preseason poll
WASHINGTON – The Landmark Conference released the 2010-11
women’s swimming preseason poll on Tuesday and the Cardinals
were selected third with 54 points.
Three-time defending champion Scranton was selected to once again
win the conference title as the Royals earned 70 points in the
poll, while Susquehanna was voted second with 63 points.
Next up was CUA and the Cardinals were followed by Goucher with 37
points. Rounding out the poll were Merchant Marine Academy
(34), Drew (26), and Juniata (12).
CUA has finished in the top-three at the Landmark Conference
championships for the last three seasons, including a third place
finish last year. Senior Lisa Brooks is a three-time
multi-event champion at the conference meet and was an NCAA
qualifier in her sophomore year.
Brooks will lead a Cardinals team that consists of 11 freshmen
this season, including Joanna Ladas, who was recently named the
collegeswimming.com Division III female swimmer of the week.
The Cardinals will be back in action on Friday, October 29 when
they travel to take on St. Mary’s.
