Women's swimming honored for academics
WASHINGTON – The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) recently announced that the CUA women's swimming team has achieved Scholar All-American status for its academic achievements during the 2011 spring semester. The CSCAA presents the Team Scholar All-American award to college and university swimming and diving teams who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
With a team cumulative GPA of 3.15 during the 2011 spring semester, CUA earned Team Scholar All-American honors from the CSCAA. For a complete listing of all institutions that achieved this honor, please click here.
The Cardinals had a strong 2010-11 season, culminating with a third place finish at the Landmark Conference championships. CUA captured six individual championships throughout the event, and freshman Joanna Ladas was named the conference's Female Swimmer and Rookie of the Year. In addition Head Coach Paul Waas and his staff were named the Women's Coaching Staff of the Year.
Following the conclusion of the season, Lisa Brooks '11, who won a pair of Landmark Conference titles, earned a spot on the Academic All-District Team.
