Peterson Named Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week
Freshman averaged 18.0 points over three games

WASHINGTON - Catholic University women's basketball player Brianna Peterson (Garnerville, N.Y./North Rockland) has been named the Landmark Conference Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week for the period ending January 27.  The freshman forward led the Cardinals to a 2-1 record over three games and also gave helped the squad to its first conference win in 2008.

Peterson started off the week with 14 points and nine rebounds in CUA's 63-40 win over Frostburg State.  She carried that momentum into a 24 point, eight rebound performance over Landmark foe Susquehanna on Saturday.  Sunday versus Juniata, Peterson had a game-high 16 points along with eight rebounds, three steals and an assist.

The Garnerville, N.Y., native is currently CUA's leading scorer averaging 13.9 PPG as well as 4.2 RPG.  She ranks fourth in the conference in scoring and has led the Cards to a 7-10 overall record. 

The Cardinals will travel to Dickinson on Wednesday for their final non-conference game of the 2007-08 season.
