ECAC names Grabiak's game-winner its Play of the Week
WASHINGTON – After receiving nearly two-thirds of the vote, Emily Grabiak's game-winning 3-pointer against Moravian on January 28 has been declared the ECAC Play of the Week, it was announced on Thursday. Grabiak's dramatic trifecta garnered 2,391 votes, good for 74% of the total.
Grabiak's shot gave CUA a 56-55 lead over Moravian with only 9 seconds to play. The Cardinals had trailed 55-53 before a missed Greyhounds free throw was rebounded by Kelli Josephsen. She then got the ball into Grabiak's hands for the eventual game-winner.
Grabiak worked her way around two screens to free herself for the shot and then let fire from the left wing. Her shot found nothing but net, sending the Cardinals bench jumping for joy.
Grabiak's 2,391 votes were over 2,100 more than the second place finisher, Anthony Keane of Hartwick College. Outside of Grabiak's game-winning play, no other nominee received more than 7% of the total vote.
