Woerner receives Academic All-District accolades
WASHINGTON – Junior Jill Woerner has been named to the
2012 Capital One Academic All-District Team, it was announced on
Thursday. CUA’s leading scorer this season, Woerner now
moves onto the national ballot where she has a chance to earn
Academic All-American honors.
Woerner leads CUA in scoring with a 13.5 points per game
average. She also leads the Cardinals in field goal
percentage (45.2%), steals (2.2/game), field goal attempts (230),
field goals made (104), free throw attempts (65) and free throws
made (2.4).
An All-Region and All-Conference selection last season, Woerner
maintains a 3.49 grade point average as a biomedical engineering
major. She is a multi-year member of the Dean’s List
and Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll and also participates
in the Society of Women Engineers, the Biomedical Engineering
Society, Engineers Without Borders and Phi Eta Sigma.
On the court, Woerner received the 2009 Landmark Conference Rookie
of the Year award after averaging 9.3 points and 6.2
rebounds. Last season, Woerner led CUA in points (16.4) and
rebounds (7.3), while posting five double-doubles.
With her 257 points this season, Woerner sits just 35 away from
1,000 for her career.
Woerner and the Cardinals will return to action on Friday evening
when they host Landmark Conference foe Drew inside the DuFour
Center. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
