Woerner receives second conference Player of the Week honor
WASHINGTON – For the second time this season, Jill Woerner has been named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday. Woerner netted a game-high 15 points on 6 of 10 shooting and also pulled down six rebounds in CUA's 52-28 regular season finale at Goucher on Saturday.
Woerner led the Cardinals to their 20th win of the season, which is tied for the second most in program history. The Providence native sank 6 of 10 shots from the field and 3 of 5 free throws en route to her 15 points.
Woerner also collected six rebounds, four blocks and three steals in only 28 minutes of action.
For the season, Woerner is averaging a team-leading 13.1 points and 5.8 rebounds in 25.1 minutes per game. She has also tallied 48 steals, 37 assists and 21 blocked shots.
Woerner and the Cardinals return to the hardwood on Wednesday when they travel to Pennsylvania for the Landmark Conference Tournament semifinals where they will face Scranton. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
The winner of Wednesday's semifinal will then face the winner of the Juniata-Moravian contest on Saturday in the conference championship.
