Landmark Conference names Grabiak Player of the Week
WASHINGTON – After scoring a career-high 22 points on
Saturday to lead CUA to its second straight Landmark Conference
title, junior Emily Grabiak was named the Landmark Player of the
Week on Monday. Grabiak sank 11 of 14 free throws, handed out seven
assists and did not turn the ball over in 35 minutes of a 72-52 win
over Scranton to secure the championship.
Grabiak added six rebounds and a pair of steals against the
Royals. She also shot 3 of 5 from 3-point range, hitting one with
6:20 to play to open up a 55-46 advantage.
Earlier in the week, Grabiak scored 13 points, shooting 3 of 5
from 3-point range yet again, in a 72-59 semifinal win over
Juniata. The point guard added five boards, two assists and a
steal.
Grabiak is averaging 9.3 points, 5.9 rebounds and a team-high 5.6
assists per game this season. She also ranks second for the Cards
in minutes player (29.1).
The Landmark Conference champion Cardinals will learn their NCAA
Tournament destination on Monday at 2:30 p.m. when the entire field
is announced on NCAA.com. CUA is making its second straight
appearance in the Big Dance.
