Donohue named a WBCA Victory Club award winner
WASHINGTON – CUA Head Coach Matt Donohue, who on January
23 earned the 200th win of his coaching career, has been named a
2013 Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Russell
Athletic Victory Club award recipient. The all-time winningest
women’s basketball coach in school history, Donohue will be
honored during the third annual WBCA Awards Show on April 8 in New
Donohue has compiled 92 victories at CUA, including a school-record 27 in 2012-13. Now in his 5th season in Washington, Donohue has led the Cardinals to the last two Landmark Conference titles and two straight NCAA Tournament appearances.
CUA won a school-record 13 Landmark Conference games this season and hosted its first Landmark Tournament games, winning both to claim the crown. The Cardinals then defeated Cabrini for their first NCAA Tournament win in school annals.
Prior to arriving at CUA, Donohue totaled 71 wins at Elmira College (N.Y.) and 47 at Bloomfield College (N.J.). He became CUA’s all-time winningest coach on November 28 when the Cardinals downed Salisbury, and then notched his 200th career “W” on January 23 with a victory over Goucher.
