CUA ranked No. 18 in this week's D3Hoops.com Top 25 poll

WASHINGTON – A 2-1 week has left CUA in nearly the same spot it was a week ago in the D3Hoops.com Top 25 poll, with the Cardinals checking in at No. 18 on Monday.  CUA downed then-nationally ranked York last week, and then split conference games with Juniata and Moravian.

CUA started last week with an impressive 60-52 win at then-No. 18 York on January 7.  The Cardinals trailed by eight with 10:13 remaining before outscoring the Spartans 21-5 the rest of the way.  Emily Grabiak netted a game-high 14 points on 6 of 10 shooting and Jill Woerner added 12 points.

On Wednesday, CUA again found itself trailing to an opponent, this time down by two to Juniata with 8:51 on the clock.  The Cardinals then unleashed a 12-0 run en route to a 70-64 win.  Grabiak had another strong all-around game with 17 points, 11 assists and 7 rebounds, while Kelli Josephsen (15 points, 10 rebounds) and Katarina Owunna (10 points, 11 rebounds) both posted double-doubles.

The Cardinals closed their week out with a tough contest at Moravian (ranked No. 22 in this week’s poll), and after having its chances to either force overtime or win in regulation, CUA fell by a score of 62-59.  Woerner led the way this time with 22 points on 10 of 15 shooting.

One of the top defensive teams in the nation, CUA leads the Landmark in scoring defense (51.7), scoring margin (+14.6), field goal percentage defense (31.1), and rebound margin (+10.1).

After playing three games last week, CUA plays just twice this week, beginning on Wednesday evening with a trip to face Susquehanna University.  Start time is set for 7 p.m.

The Cardinals then host Scranton on Saturday at 4.  The Cards and Royals are both currently 3-1 in the conference.
