Cardinals receive votes in USA Today/ESPN preseason top-25 poll
WASHINGTON – The preseason USA Today/ESPN Division III Coaches' Poll was announced on Tuesday and CUA was among other teams receiving votes. The Cardinals are the defending Landmark Conference champions and are coming off a season in which they won a school-record 22 games.
CUA returns nearly its entire team from a season ago when the Cardinals earned their first NCAA Tournament bid in school annals. Jill Woerner, Katarina Owunna and Emily Grabiak were each named to the All-Conference Teams in 2011-12, and return to form a strong trio for the Cards.
After having its exhibition game at Division I Maryland cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy, CUA now turns its attention towards the regular season opener at Randolph-Macon on November 16. Start time is set for 6 p.m.
The Cardinals home opener will take place on Tuesday, November 20 when they host Marymount. Start time is slated for 6.
