Lebanon Valley Overpowers Catholic 76-54 on the Road

Annville, Pa. – After an early two-minute lead, the Lebanon Valley College Dutchmen captured the lead and cruised to a 76-54 victory over the Catholic University women's basketball on Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Michelle DeSantis, who has been a consistent offensive leader for Cards, scored 19 points. The sophomore guard was a perfect 4 of 4 from the charity stripe and 3 of 4 from behind the arc. Bridget Power was the second leading scorer with nine points, she also posted a perfect outing from the free-throw line, finishing at 2 of 2. Josephine Migash pulled down a team-high five rebounds, while Payton Smith, Melissa Errico and Power supplied two helpers.

Power kicked off the stout lead with a three pointer at the 19:44 mark, her quick success was assisted by Nicole Tollevsen.

After the lead, LVC paced to a double-figure margin lead by the 14:54 mark, for a score of 14-3.

While the Dutchmen continued to be find the bottom of the net, the Catholic offense came together, as the Cards scored 14 points to the Lebanon's 16 points by the half.

After the intermission, CUA continued to evenly battle with LVC, cutting the margin lead to 17 points with 1:02 minutes remaining in the contest on a 19-9 run initiated at the 7:11 mark.

Despite the run, Lebanon Valley outscored the Cards 31-29 in the second half to secure the 76-54 victory.

Three Dutchmen score in double figures, with Peyton Carper leading the squad with 16 points, as Bridget Rothert and Taylor Umbrell, who pulled down eight boards apiece, scored 12 points and 11 points, respectively. Rothert also added five helpers and one block to her statistics.

Overall, CUA shot 69 percent from the charity stripe (18 of 26), 30 percent from behind the arc (6 of 20) and 28 percent from the field (15 of 54). LVC finished the contest at 65 percent from the free-throw line (22 of 34), 42 percent from the field (24 of 57) and 38 percent from long range (6 of 16).
