WASHINGTON - Junior Kathleen McGlynn (Tallahassee, Fla./Leon) scored 15 points and added 12 rebounds to lead Catholic past Gallaudet 72-62 Saturday afternoon in a Capital Athletic Conference game. McGlynn scored the first eight points for CUA as Gallaudet missed its first six shots.
Junior Claire Flatley (Rockville Centre, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) added 15 points off the bench on 6-for-10 shooting including 3-for-5 from beyond the arc.
Tied at 10-10 early on, the Cardinals went on a 22-6 run capped off by senior Carol Schnepp's (Maple Glen, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) layup at the 8:40 mark. Schnepp finished with 12 points.
But the Bison's Jovin Dinkel hit a short jumper with 2:06 in the half to pull Gallaudet within five at 36-31 with 4:33 in the half courtesy of a 15-6 run.
Catholic led at the break, 38-33.
The second half saw the Bison get as close a four points but Gallaudet found itself in scoreless streaks that allowed Catholic to regain a double-digit lead.
A three-pointer by senior Amy Tyluki (Red Bank, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) with just over five minutes in the contest put the Cardinals up for good at 66-51.
Senior Tara Petrolino (Hackettstown, N.J./Pope John) dished out five assists and added three steals in her first start of the year.
Catholic returns to action on Monday, Dec. 16, as they play at Division II University of West Florida at 5:30 p.m., in Pensacola, Fla.
