WASHINGTON - Catholic had season-highs in field goals (36) and rebounds (67) to help end a two-game losing streak as the Cardinals routed Gallaudet, 88-56, in a Capital Athletic Conference matchup. The Cardinals were 36-for-95 (37.9%) from the floor and grabbed 67 boards, led by Haley Jones' game-high 12 caroms. The sophomore was one point shy of a double-double, scoring nine points.
Anne Maguire led CUA with 14 points off the bench and Lindsay DiRomualdo and Jane Maybury chipped in 10 added 11 points, respectively, as the three freshmen were the only Cardinals in double figures.
CUA used a 20-6 run to erase an early 6-2 lead capped off by two free throws from Maguire. Jones would give Catholic a 34-18 lead at halftime with her layup with just under a minute in the period.
From there, the Cardinals (8-10, 4-4 CAC) would outscore the Bison 54-38, in the second half, as the 88 points scored were a season-high.
Kelli Beechy (18 points), Jovin Dinkel (13 points), and Cassey Ellis (12 points) all scored in double figures for Gallaudet (3-16, 0-8 CAC) who were limited to just six players due to injury.
Freshman Katie Murtha netted six points and added six rebounds, five assists, and four steals in the win.
