FREDERICK, MD. - Catholic breezed past Hood College, 95-48, in a non-league game Sunday afternoon as the Cardinals have now won three out of their last four games. CUA shot a season-best 47.8% from the floor including a 9-of-19 from beyond the arc. Freshman Lindsay DiRomualdo led a balanced attack with 16 points while Jane Maybury chipped in 13 points and six rebounds off the bench.
The Cardinals (10-11) held the Blazers to just 10 points in the last 14:58 of the first half en route to a 40-20 lead at the break.
In the second half, the CUA lead gradually increased as Catholic and outscored Hood, 55-28. Melissa Kolb led Hood (9-8) with 14 points and a game-high nine rebounds.
Senior Carol Schnepp added 11 points as Catholic forced 28 Blazer turnovers in which they scored 24 points.
This is the 12th meeting between the schools as the Cardinals won their eighth-straight game over Hood and hold an 11-1 lead in the all-time series.
The Cardinals resume action on Wednesday as they travel to Fredericksburg, Va. to take on Mary Washington in a CAC tilt at 6 p.m.
