WASHINGTON - Lindsay DiRomualdo scored 20 of her game-high 28 points in the second half as Catholic was able to hold off Mary Washington, 57-49, in a Capital Athletic Conference contest Wednesday night at the DuFour Center.
The freshman, starting her first game since December, was 7-of-10 from the floor including 5-of-6 in the second half.
The Cardinals led 26-24 at the break and increased the lead at the midway point of the second half to 14 points on a three-pointer by DiRomualdo, her second of five on the evening.
But the Eagles (2-9, 0-3 CAC) were able only able to get within five on two Diane Frantz free throws with just 3:16 left.
DiRomualdo was able connect on five straight free throws under the final minute to seal the win. For the game, she was 9-of-10 and added four rebounds and four steals.
Lindsey Forbush led Mary Washington with 10 points and six rebounds off the bench.
Senior Carol Schnepp chipped in 12 points to help Catholic (6-6, 2-1 CAC) to its third straight win over the Eagles.
The Cardinals take on Marymount in Arlington, Va. on Saturday, January 18 in a CAC tilt at 2 p.m.
