FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Carol Schnepp scored 22 of her game-high 24 points in the second half to lift Catholic to the .500 mark on the season in a 80-68 win at Mary Washington Wednesday evening. The senior was 8-of 13 from the floor including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc to help CUA win its third straight game.
Junior Kathleen McGlynn added 16 points and a game-high 17 boards for her third double-double of the season. The 17 caroms tied a career-high for the center.
Jenn Olinger was one of five Eagles in double figures registering a team-high 15 points.
The Cardinals shot 46.9% in the first half to lead 35-27 at the break. A 10-0 run midway in the second half opened up a 56-52 lead with 12 minutes in the game.
Haley Jones' layin with 2:53 left gave CUA a 72-58 lead The sophomore finished with four points and a blocked shot for Catholic (11-11, 6-5 CAC).
Lindsay Forbush's trey made it a 10-point contest at 74-64 with just over two minutes to play but the Cardinals were able to secure the win at the free-throw line down the stretch. Forbush led Mary Washington (6-14, 2-8 CAC) with 10 rebounds.
Catholic returns home on Saturday, Feb. 15, with a CAC tilt with St. Mary's at 2 p.m.
