WASHINGTON --- Freshman Anne Maguire scored a game-high 21 points to lead Catholic to a 74-54 win over cross-town foe Trinity (D.C.) Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
Maguire was 8-of-14 including 5-of-9 from beyond the arc.
Junior Kathleen McGlynn chipped in 12 points while sophomore Haley Jones came off the bench to score eight points and grab a team-high 11 rebounds.
Catholic (5-5) used a strong-shooting first half to take a 41-26 lead at the break. CUA was 16-of-38 from the floor including 7-of-12 from three-point land. Maguire connected on all five of her three's in the first half.
Lakeisha Hopkins led Trinity (4-5) with 11 points. Teammate Becky Worsham added seven points and grabbed a game-high 13 caroms.
It was the first time the teams have met since the 1974-75 season.
The Cardinals return to action on Monday as they host Lebanon Valley College here at the DuFour Center at 6 p.m
